a little blue.

the dream tree has been out of commission for about the last week, if you haven't noticed.

i haven't been feeling the greatest lately, both mentally and physically.  there have been ER visits, doctor visits, hanging out at home and trying to keep my anxiety under control. i was not blessed with a proper functioning female department, if you know what i mean. let's just say it hasn't been a fun last month and we're still going. . .

hopefully i'll be back in just a day or two with some more uplifting, fun posts.

i hate being a negative nancy all the time.  my doctor even told me today that i was a pessimist!

until then, i'll leave you with this cute funny.  dogs are one of the greatest things in life (:

dream more, complain less.

I figure I only have about 10 hours left in the day before it's time to hit the sack and get ready for a new work day tomorrow where another busy week begins.  Here's to hoping that I can accomplish every single one of these starting, now.  The list seems easy, but doing so is actually the hard part.

Ready, set, go.

when work stresses you, buy some new eyeshadow.

The other day at work really wasn't too bad until about an hour before shift change I had a patient pass away.  Talk about turning a decent day into a bad one.  It's sad, stressful, and makes you not really want to come back for a few days.

On the way home I decided to stop by Ulta and pick up a few things I needed to ease the stress of the day.  Low and behold they were having a sale on their line of makeup.  I have tried several of their makeup products before so when I noticed the eyeshadows were 3/$9, I was not gonna pass that deal up.

The gold and champagne colors actually surpassed my expectations in their quality and pigmentation.  The purple was good, but not like I was hoping.  I like for mine to be darker than how it turned out, but this is not a very pigmented shadow.  These are all very versatile colors too, so I can use them in so many other ways.

How do you like this look?  I thought it was a pretty good combo of colors.

I am not usually one for shopping when stressed, but unfortunately it did make me feel better.

Calla Lily / Majesty / Cashmere

Let me know if you would like to see a video tutorial on this look.  I was going to do one on this, but my software hasn't been cooperating so I have to get that figured out first....

I'm curious - do you shop when stressed to make things better?  What do you like to buy?

hang on.

Life is getting ultra stressful and busy for me right now.

Between adjusting to nite shift and living so far away from work, and then trying to get our big move in order, I'm about at my limit.

So, my little blog is going to be a bit non-existent for a while, or at least lacking a bit.

I'll be back soon with new and exciting things, so bear with me!!
{Not sure when I'll be getting internet at the new place either, ugh}

==============

Here are a few pics from my weekend.

It was rather busy with parties and packing, too much drinking, and a day completely sick & recovering.
Still fun, although never long enough.

good reminders for stressful times

I don't know about you, but I am usually under a great deal of stress.

It also seems the world around me is just becoming more difficult and life isn't getting any easier.  I tend to let things bother me way too much, and I hate it, but that's also how I'm made.
I worry incessantly about everything.

Below is a list of ideas to assist in handling those hard times that come our way and I really need to focus on them more.  I ran across this site that has the best inspirational pieces.

So when times are tough or you're feeling stressed, think about this.. .. .

1) Happiness is never constant, and it’s not supposed to be. – You have to fight through some bad days to earn the best days of your life.  Happiness is simply a series of moments that come and go and add sweetness to our lives.  Learn to accept this, and the more happy moments you will have.

2)  Failures are temporary situations that teach us necessary lessons. – Life’s best lessons are usually learned at the worst times and from the worst mistakes.  So yes, you will fail sometimes.  The faster you accept this, the faster you can get on with being brilliant. You’ll never be 100% sure it will work, but you can always be 100% sure doing nothing won’t work.  Doing something and getting it wrong is at least ten times more productive than doing nothing.  So get out there and try!  Either you succeed or you learn a vital lesson.  Win – Win.

3) Even if you can’t see it now, you are making progress. – You may not be where you want to be yet, but if you think about it, you’re no longer where you once were either.  You have good reason to believe that you can trust yourself going forward.  Not because you’ve always made the right choices, but because you survived the bad ones, and taken small steps in the right direction.  So cry for a moment if you have to, and get it out of your system.  Crying doesn’t indicate that you’re weak; since birth, it has always been a sign that you’re alive and full of potential.  Once you’re done, keep going!  You’re undoubtedly getting closer to where you want to be.

4) How you feel when you’re stressed is not a true measure of reality. – Just because you’re afraid, doesn’t mean you’re in danger.  Just because you feel alone, doesn’t mean nobody loves you.  Just because you think you might fail, doesn’t mean you will.  Look beyond your doubts and keep searching for the truth.  Be aware of your mental self-talk.  We all talk silently to ourselves in our heads, but we aren’t always conscious of what we’re saying or how it’s affecting us.  The way to overcome negative thoughts and destructive emotions is to develop opposing, positive emotions that are stronger and more powerful.  Listen to your self-talk and replace negative thoughts with positive ones.  The sun is always shining on some part of your life.  Sometimes you just have to forget how you feel, remember what you deserve, and keep pushing forward.

5) You cannot change what you refuse to confront. – You can learn great things from your failures and mistakes when you aren’t busy denying them.  If you’ve been asking the same questions for months or even years, yet are still stuck, it’s probably not that you haven’t been given the answers, but that you don’t like the answers you were given.  It takes a lot of courage to admit that something needs to change, and a lot more courage still, to accept the responsibility for actually changing it.  The most important step forward is taking the first step.  The simple act of getting started and doing something will give you the momentum you need, and soon you’ll find yourself in a positive spiral of positive changes – one building on the other.

6) You are not what happened to you in the past. – No matter how chaotic the past has been, the future is a clean, fresh, wide open slate. You are not your past habits. You are not your past failures. You are not how others have at one time treated you. You are only who you think you are right now in this moment. You are only what you do right now in this moment.

7) Not getting what you want can be a blessing. – Not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of good luck, because it forces you reevaluate things, opening new doors to opportunities and information you would have otherwise overlooked.  Remember, some things in life fall apart so that better things can fall together.

8) Being a ‘work in progress’ is a great state to be in. – Stop berating yourself for being a work in progress.  Start embracing it!  Because being a work in progress doesn’t mean you’re not good enough today; it means you want a better tomorrow, and you wish to love yourself completely, so you can live your life fully.  It means you’re determined to heal your heart, expand your mind and cultivate the gifts you know you’re meant to share.  May we all be works in progress forever, and celebrate the fact that we are!

9) Nobody else can do it for you. – Keep doing what you know in your heart is right for YOU.  Let your dreams be bigger than your fears and your actions louder than your words.  Live by choice, not by chance.  Make changes, not excuses.  Choose to listen to your inner voice, not the jumbled opinions of everyone else.  It’s your road, and yours alone.  Others may walk it with you, but no one can walk it for you.

10) Life is not easy, but it’s worth it. – If you expect it to be, you will perpetually disappoint yourself.  Achieving anything worthwhile in life takes effort.  So start every morning ready to run farther than you did yesterday and fight harder than you ever have before.  Above all, make sure you properly align your efforts with your goals.  It won’t be easy, but it will be worth it in the end.

Aflutter.

It's not unusual for me to wake up feeling perturbed since I do suffer from anxiety, but today it just really got to me.  I woke up with thoughts racing through my head of things I needed to do by noon; I woke up at 10, with a headache, keep in mind.

It didn't help that as I looked out my window I saw remnants of the weekend's ice mixed with new fallen wetness and not an ounce of sunshine in the sky.

Last nite while at the hockey game I lost my cell phone! Hopefully it's in lost & found, otherwise I'll be getting a new phone, sans sim card ----> no contacts. My phone is the first thing I thought about as I woke up and I called it in hopes that someone would pick up and tell me where it is.

Then, I realized that today wasn't going to work out for me to pick up my new furniture, but my uncle called and told me he would so graciously drive the 45 minutes and bring it to me.  It was a super sweet gesture and I now have a couch and loveseat again!

Trying to study for my boards is really stressful as well because I really have no motivation to do so and have to force myself.  I paid for an online review program that's really helping with studying, and motivation. . who would have thought, but it's getting down to the wire and I need to be more proactive.

So here it is evening and I'm just now getting to my post.  My day didn't turn out too shabby really, thanks to a couple meds, but still, things semi worked out.

I am a constant worrier and it really affects me, but I guess that is what makes me who I am.  My anxiety gets pretty ugly, and it has gotten worse over the last year and I honestly let it get the best of me.  How do you handle the stresses in your life?  I try to read, exercise, and distract myself and it works...sometimes

Tomorrow starts a new week, so I will just stay positive and make the best of it, while trying to maximize each opportunity I have to do what I need.  Oh, and my new camera came so I can't wait to check it out and share some beauties!

On a sweet and happier note, here is a picture of us from last nite.
