Hearty Meatballs & Gravy

For some reason I always associate meatballs with appetizers, however this recipe makes for an awesome supper.  These are super yummy and they will definitely stick to your ribs, or unfortunately, your hips, butt, or wherever you don't want them to, but it's worth it.  The ingredient list is small and it doesn't take long to prepare, but it does have to simmer for a while so all the flavors are packed in.

What you will need:
  • 1 pound of ground round
  • 1 egg
  • 1 piece of bread soaked in mil
  • 1 Tbsp onion mix (I use Tastefully Simple Onion Onion, but minced onion or something like that)
  • 2 tsp of seasoned salt
  • small can of mushrooms
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk

Mix all ingredients together (except mushrooms, soup, and 1/2 cup milk).  Shape into meatballs and fry with olive oil until browned.  Remove from the skillet; add mushroom soup, milk, and mushrooms.  Mix together and add meatballs back to pan.  Cover and warm on stove for 2-3 hours.  Serve over mashed potatoes or macaroni.  As you can see from the below pictures, I eat mine with the potatoes on the side, but you can plop the meatballs right on top, if you wish.  I'm one of those that doesn't like my food to touch, so everything is always separate.

Mixing with your hands works so much better than with a spoon, but it's so much more gross, I think!

The meatballs can vary in all sizes!

Remember to cover!

The finished product!

I will share the recipe for these soon.  They are the best!
These really are the most amazing meatballs.  Kudos to my Grandma N. for sharing this recipe with me.  There will be more of hers to come, I'm sure.
